786 – Hampshire break 2017

6 Jul , 2017

A three night stay in the small town of Alton, Hampshire, staying at The Swan, an Old English Inn on the high street, for a Jane Austen themed break or the Tea Towel Tour as Alex calls it. I arrive in Winchester at 11.0am on Thursday 6th July, an incredibly hot day. Indeed, the weather is hot and sunny during the entire break. I use the Park and Ride scheme (an odd one, pay to park and ride fro free, the reverse of most P&R schemes I’ve used. There is also only the one bus servicing the four P&R car parks around the city. The first P&R I try is totally full, but manage to park up at the outer second carpark I try).

Have a wander around the Winchester, a beautiful old city that has some lovely medieval buildings, before meet gin Alex at the train station at 12.25pm. We have a drink and catch up at the local Wetherspoons.
