Sunday 4th February is a very wet, windy day. We have an excellent breakfast at the hotel to stoke ourselves up before catching the 9.30am minibus from the hotel to the bus station and then a 10.0am bus with Reykjavik Excursions to the Reykjanes peninsula and the Blue Lagoon. This is a surreal geothermal pool and spa set in a bleak, black lava rubble landscape. Filled from outflow from a nearby thermal power station plus sea water, the resulting milky blue water is around 38c. It is an expensive experience, worth ding the once, but very busy; a very slick, stack them in tourist rip-off. We rub some of the silvery grey silt onto our faces, float an win around, exploring artificial caves and arches to break up the lagoon, for over an hour. We then catch the 1.15pm bus back into the city.
